Overwhelmedness(iosity)
Posted: September 30th, 2009 | Author: ab | Tags: awesome, bedroom, decorating, HouseOh my goodness, it’s been a banner week here at Chao Central. First of all, the temperature has dropped below 75 at least 3 times. Secondly, one of my favorite blogs, Creature Comforts, did a super sweet post on our house. THIRD OF ALL, I will be doing a guest post on one of my OTHER favorite blogs (Karly and Erin, what what!) very very soon.
FINALLY, and this is going to blow your mind, I am a finalist in this All The Best Bedroom Contest. I mean, how sick are you of hearing about my bedroom? I know, me too. However. Not only is it an honor to be chosen, but your favorite and mine, the crazy awesome Kelly Wearstler, is one of the judges. This makes me squee. A lot. Y’all, the other contestants are so good. They are obviously professionals. So I cannot even tell you how happy it made me to find out I was in the top 12. As a bonus, there is a Reader’s Choice poll you should go vote in. (For me.) (I mean, you don’t have to. Only if you want to.) (Dewit.)
Talk about an embarrassment of riches. I am the luckiest girl in the blogosphere!!!!!!1!
And now, here are 2 more pictures of my bedroom. YAY!

I totes voted for you! It’s obviously the best one! and I have decided I might have to paint my bedroom Down Pipe this weekend. Thx for the inspiration!
Congratulations! I haven’t looked at the others yet, but I feel confident in saying that I will like yours best… I’ll report back after I vote to confirm! Btw, what room will you be working on (and posting photos of) next?!?!
Thanks guys!
@juliet: Bathrooms. As in, adding one and re-vamping another. But that’s a few months away, I’m just in the planning stages right now.
@bina: If you do it, report back!
Yep, your room is definitely the coolest, and you’re kicking the professionals butts! They all look nice, but many are too traditional/busy for my taste!
Can’t wait to see the bathrooms!
awesome! i just voted for you and the results show you in the lead. good luck!!
you are way ahead! (of course)
awesomeness(iosity)
wow….you did an amazing job. it’s such inspiration for me!
Your room is AMAZING. I seriously love your style. Yellow and Grey is a fantastic color scheme
The view from your room is also spectacular. Call me JEALOUS.
Just beautiful! Your colors are so sophisticated. I just voted and saw that you’re in 1st place!! Congrats on a banner week!
Your craftiness is beyond!!! You’ve got such a great eye… I love all your before and after projects. I did a round up of them on my blog

Stunning makeover!
You said the color you used was from Farrow & Ball, matched by benjamin Moore. Can you give me the F&B name?
Thanks!
Thank you so much, everyone! And thanks for the blog love too.
@layersofmeaning: The color is Down Pipe.
Hi there,
Visiting from Creature comforts and just bowled over by your fabulous style. Absolutely gorgeous…..your room, and your daughter’s. I am so impressed and just in love with your picks. All the best to you in the contest…you sound like an absolute doll!

Whatever, that one guy has a damned fireplace in his bedroom which is not fair, and that other chick’s looked like Mad’s bedroom, only not as good. I feel like the budgets should be revealed so we can see who did the most with the least cash (you, obviously). Best of luck!
No contest! I do like Room 10, and why? Because it sort of reminds me of something you might do (that blue bedside table, for one, or the top of the counter). The rest are either too fussy or too sterile for my tastes - beautifully decorated, but they don’t fill me with equal measures of joy and serenity. Am I being too flowery in my praise? Can’t help it - that’s just what your design skills do to me.
And yay, I just voted and you’re still in top spot! Here’s to the fabulous AB!
Yay!! I am so glad you entered because I just knew your bedroom would be a big hit. I just voted for you (of course) and you’re getting a lot of support in the comments section, too. My favorite is from Kris who said, “Lots of lovely rooms to choose from, but #2 (Chao) really resonates with me. It doesn’t look ‘decorated’, you know? That kind of effortless design is priceless. Anyone can throw a lot of money at a room and have it turn out well, but that kind of editorial eye is rare, indeed.” This is always how I feel whenever you post pictures of your amazing home. Good Luck!!!!
I saw your bedroom on the competition and I am IN LOVE! for 1 million reasons. A few:
1. the dark walls make the windows look like art
2. that mustard yellow is my fave right now.
3. I just bought a deer head (it’s fake) on Ebay and you confirm my theory that it is cool.
4. the Nelson bench.
I could go on and on. I hope you win.
I hope more that my husband and I have a cozy bedroom like this one day:)
Y’all are too nice to me. I’m so conceited right now.
can you come decorate our place please, i want a house like yours!!
AB….Please email me re magazine
photoshoot possibility. Love
your work, in all rooms that I
have seen. I am an editor/scout.

Hooray! I will be sure to vote for you! It’s kind of a coincidence, because I am working on a post of dark rooms right now and was already planning to feature your bedroom. Great work! Hope you win.
If you don’t win, I’m going to stab one (or all) of the judges. It’s not a threat. I’m just sayin.
ps: the entire world is about to get slathered in downpipe. I am fighting the urge to repaint my entire home as we speak. Thanks a lot!!!
Great bedroom , and congrats on the Readers Choice award!
Where o where did you find the sunburst style mirror with the organic feel to it?
Please don’t tell me it’s a one of kind. Thxs in advance.
Hooray!
@attygreen13: I ordered a swatch book from the FB website.
@adrienne: I got it at Paul Michael in Monroe. I think it may be a local store, or local to the south at least.
Man, you must love sleeping in there. It’s beautiful.
AB (my intials too): Thanks for the info on the mirror. Will call them tomorrow.
